How East Berkshire schools might give thanks
with our time capsule |
|
Thanksgiving Field is unusual because it's a
historic place which offers an affinity and lessons for pupils today - partly in History but very much so in Citizenship. It's also an event that's perhaps more real than distant wars. Here are three suggestions for staff or school councils to consider: - sending in soil and a small item for the Time Capsule - inviting mums, sisters, aunts and others to show their Rosie side with selfies! - colouring in We Can Do It sheets for display |

A happy suggestion for the whole school to have
a say
CHOOSE A YES-WE-DID-IT ITEM TO GO INTO OUR TIME
CAPSULE
The Tally Ho Hoard will be buried on Friday 13th June 2014, ready to amaze archaeologists in 3014!
Choose something small and non-perishable that reflects an action for a good cause or action – local or anywhere – that the school is proud of being associated with. (For example? A plastic red nose to commemorate Comic Relief). We’ll have public and on-line exhibitions to show your contributions. Here are some of the items already booked to go in, including an RAF aircrew button, a 1943 threepenny piece, a CAFOD badge given by St Margaret Clitherow Primary in Bracknell, a Fly2Help pin. A Quaker school in Somerset is sending bottles of the silence that's given them 300 years of breathing space!
SHOW YOUR ROSIE SIDE WITH A SELFIE! Rosie the Riveters in Long Beach California helped build our B17 - and were a model for the part women played at work in wartime. So we’ll have a simple photo. Dress up and have someone take your photo – for display in the school, on-line here and at Flckr. It’s got a good everyday message too for families (and schools): We Can Do It.
