IF YOU LIKE THE IDEA OF THANKSGIVING FIELD you might like to consider befriending it.
There are two main actions, and a suggested extra.
FIRST IS to simply sign up as a member of the Happy Landings Club - see panel on right.
There's no fee, no formalities, and no obligations. Simply send in your name by e-mail to get any updates or news - and no, there won't be a stream of these.
It's possible that sometime members of the Happy Landings Club local to Winkfield might find themselves having some form of social gatherings - or taking part in such happy housekeeping duties as giving the horses in the Field their annual apples.
SECOND IS to support one of the two good causes below dedicated to happy landings.
Both seem to be great examples of the generosity of spirit we find all around.
They’ve an on-line facility for individuals, families or groups to give.
THIRD, AND AS IMPORTANT?
Pass the word to business organisations,
that they might support these examples of people
doing great work today to help hope and lives
grow tomorrow

Rosie the Riveter Charter High School is situated in Long Beach, California – close to the factory where our B17 was built, and where many of the workers were women (known as Rosies).
Established in September 2007, Rosie the Riveter Youth Programs provide a rigorous, standards-based secondary education and the opportunity to experience the world around.
The school has helped thousands of students who have not succeeded in traditional high schools turn their lives around and become socially successful while achieving academic levels necessary for high school graduation and success in registered apprenticeships in the construction and building trades.
Their WINTER program educates Women In Non-Traditional
Employment Roles. The school provides community
transformation through life skills training,
employment training, violence prevention
strategies, and family advocacy.
In addition to core academic classes, the school provides a
rich elective and innovating program that offer
students a chance to explore the opportunities
that community colleges offer. Students
interested in construction and public utilities
industry are able to “test drive a career” so to
speak, and learn about the skills and earning
potential these careers offer.

A PUPIL CUTTING OUT A NEW CAREER IN CAN-DO THE SPIRIT OF ROSIE! TF_friendslist.htm A major driver behind WINTER has been Executive Director Alexandra Torres Galancid.
Before taking the reins at WINTER, Alex directed
several city of Los Angeles non-profit
organizations, focusing on child abuse and
violence prevention programs and women’s health
services. With the City of Los Angeles Community
Development Department she set up training staff
on social services delivery systems at the “one
stop community service centers” a model for the
“family and youth centers” now operated by the
Department. Alex participates and makes
recommendations to advisory boards and
committees at the City, County, State and
National level.
