THANKSGIVING FIELD makes a marvellous story to share with all sorts of communities - for example primary and secondary schools, Rotary and similar clubs, associations, churches, aviation societies, and local history groups.

If you're interested, Hugh Gibbons will be happy to talk about talking about Thanksgiving Field. Just contact hughgibbons@just1.org.uk

As with all his talks, you can expect to see lots of pictures, hear many human stories, and mix surprises with smiles.

The basic talk takes about 45 minutes, and there are invariably questions and observations to follow. A working title is Happy Landings.

If you haven't got a big screen or blank wall or data projector to run off a laptop, Hugh can bring them along. The technical equipment needed is a glass of water.

Talks will usually be free - unless there's unusual travel involved - but in the UK a donation that will find its way to Fly2Help or another appropriate charity would be welcome. If you can't arrange this (maybe you're a charity too), then a donation made out to Hugh will get sent on. Elsewhere, a donatio to your national Red Cross would be fine.

Hugh has given many dozens of talks to all sorts of audiences - from business conferences and in-company workshops to primary schools, social clubs, U3As and the like, and the RAF, Royal Navy and RMA Sandhurst.

Besides Thanksgiving Field, he has worked his way through Visual Illusions, the Psychology of Laughter, Flying-Crooked Tales, Teamwork After the Tsunami, Art and the Spanish Civil War, Silk & Spices for the Caesars, and If You Were Me, on being a primary school pupil during WWII.
Hugh is seen here enthralling the Chair at the Annual Conference dinner for an information association. The helmet belonged to a former RAF night-fighter pilot, and follows the maxim of many really funny comedians that a funny costume helps get the audience laughing.

The helmet also comes in handy for schools talks on being a pupil in WWII - including the re-creation of the night he got bombed in Birmingham, at the primary on 200 metres away...

It was also handy on the evening we dedicated the Field - as Anja and her mom Sarah from Ohio were there to share the fun, and headgear.
