 New for 2016-30!

THE WORLD SCHOOL WALL CLUB
For any school to show the world something of
its collective art & soul

- anytime this year, find a space indoors for your own collage

- invite all pupils and families to join in depicting one of the 17 UN SDGs

- become part of an off-the-wall gallery hosted by schools far and wide

Co-ordinator Hugh Gibbons says...

Being in on the World School Club might appeal to schools anywhere in the world who'd like to add their own picture to the World School Wall in Bracknell.

But you keep it on show in your school!

It's an off-the-wall idea.  Most art galleries are in one place and filled with pictures done by professional artists who've chosen their own subject. With the Club, the world gets a gallery that's scattered far and wide, has only one picture per place, and the subject's chosen and brought into being by pupils and parents - so all can have a hand as mini-artists.

This A4 briefing is available as a PDF file to download and print

HERE’S HOW - ANYTIME DURING 2016

1. Choose one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals seen on the right - and in detail at the United Nations website

They're also listed further down this page.

2. Create your own SDG collage – ideally from small things brought in from family homes eg spoons, pencils, buttons, photos, Fairtrade labels, or whatever (see below).

NB That's ideally. But if you think it would be better to go another route - maybe a group of students doing things on behalf of everybody - that's OK. Just try to get everyone involved once it's done, and keep them informed.

Your picture can be any size that suits, and of any material (unless you're going to put it outdoors, in which case weatherproof paints etc...)

The SDG pictures on the Wall in Bracknell are on plywood and 600mm wide by 1200mm deep. But they're meant to be viewed from about 10 metres away.  So yours might be smaller.  Even one the size of a postage stamp counts!

3. Find a suitable place and exhibit your SDG picture permanently for all to admire and enjoy - perhaps in a special assembly of dedication.  And maybe use it as an extra SMSC/PSHE/Citizenship resource.

If anyone wants to create one of their own for home or a club or community, they'll be very welcome to do so - and they be counted as Club members.

Register for the Club by e-mail
Membership is free, and there are no strings attached

Send to hughgibbons@just1.org.uk

Any e-mail address you use will be kept confidential and used only for Club communication - eg to thank you and give any updates.

The basic information needed is your school name, type and location; an approximate count of how many people were involved in the making of the picture; and your website URL.

Include a photo of your finished SDG picture - and any as you go along.  If you've any good stories or comments or local media coverage to share, they'll be welcome too.

Your details will go on the on-line catalogue list.  You'll get a Club certificate to print out and show around.  And there'll be an occasional update on anything significant.

And after that...

Share your good news story far and wide

maybe via social networks - with families, former pupils, wellwishers, local press and radio, nearby churches and other community groups. They really will like to hear about it - and give you a pat on the back and thanks for taking part.
